  • Polystyrene balls (make sure they are solid because the porous ones won’t hold the skewers).
  • Bamboo skewers (found in the kitchen section of the grocery store, I used 25 per ball)
  • Clear thumbtacks
  • Fishline
  • Gold spray paint
  • Plastic rhinestones
  • Superglue

Instructions: diy crafts made easy!

1. Stick the 25 bamboo skewers to the polystyrene ball (you can use more or less skewers to your taste). Make sure they are placed deep, otherwise, they will fall. You can use glue to make sure they will stay in place, but you don’t have to.

2. Spray your stars with the gold spray paint (or whichever color you want). You could do an ombré star by spraying the ball with a darker color, and then using a couple of paler shades of the same color spraying from the center of the star towards the tips of the stars. There are no limits to your creativity when you are doing diy crafts! That is one the great things about diy crafts: you can personalize your home decor to your taste.

3. Glue a clear plastic rhinestone to the end of each stick.

4. Make as many stars as you want to, you will need one ball and at least 25 skewers per ball (you can use more to achieve a different look, but I wouldn’t use less than 25, you starts would look a little naked). Once you are done, decide how you are going to arrange them and where.

5. Cut strings of fishline and hang your stars from the ceiling (or the wall). I used clear thumbtacks because I can remove them easily when I move out. If you place them near a window, the sun will catch on the rhinestones and your stars will actually sparkle!
